What?
Huge X Women Presents A Fireside Talk with Jessica Bennett.
Who?
Jessica Bennett, an award-winning journalist who has spent her career focusing a gender lens on social issues and culture — from the persistence of workplace inequality to the ripple effects of #MeToo.
She is the New York Times’ first-ever gender editor, leading a newsroom-wide initiative to expand global coverage of women and gender across platforms, and is author of the bestselling book, Feminist Fight Club: A Survival Manual for a Sexist Workplace.
Why?
Conversations about workplace inequality are centered around talking about problems. It is often preaching to the choir that makes one feel better but has no real change.
A shift from problems to solutions needs to happen. At an individual level, to take the message outside of the group and to focus on what companies can do. Workplaces should set a percentage goal to have more women included in leadership. These small yet concrete goals will help guide the business decisions and thinking. Also, you cannot always rely on companies to have roles for you. You need to know what you want and create them yourselves.
